WidgetBucks Size, Format and Placement

In general, there isn't any best size or format in WidgetBucks. What may be the best format for one, may not be the best format for you. But here's one general conception that I heard from many webmasters, don't over blend your ads. General rule of thumb:1. For blog, experiment by placing 330 x 250 ads on your post. 2. If you have the space, try the 660 x 300 ads blog. It displays product description, price and picture all in one ad block. No one will miss that huge ad blocks either.3. Experiment with color. Just because your site is red doesn't mean that red WidgetBucks ads will do well too. 4. Match the ads category with your topic (duh). 5. Don't place too many widgets in one page. Three WidgetBucks ads are already too much (three will take forever to load). Generally I have never placed more than one WidgetBucks ads.

WidgetBucks Review

It has been a bit over two weeks since the new advertising network WidgetBucks announced it’s launch (here’s where I posted my first impression review of WidgetBucks) and as promised here is my update on how it has been performing for me.
For those of you unfamiliar with WidgetBucks - here’s a sample ad unit to remind you.

The Good Stuff about WidgetBucks

All of the testing that I’ve been doing with WidgetBucks ad units have been on product related blogs where I think they have a much greater chance of performing well than on blog with other topics. I’ve been running it in a ’split test’ with Chitika ads in one position (ie 50% of the time I display a Chitika ad unit and 50% a WidgetBucks unit) and to this point the WidgetBucks ad is earning more on a CPM basis than the Chitika unit (it’s still early days on that test though). The CTR is higher on the WidgetBucks ad but the click value is higher on the Chitika ads. I’ve also done split tests with AdSense and found that WidgetBucks out performed them also. As a result of all this - I’m earning more with WidgetBucks than I would have with ads in the same positions as with either Chitika and AdSense (and considering that they are my two biggest earners that’s pretty good). I suspect CTR is higher because of the animation in the ads which draws the eye to them. WidgetBucks have been adding new ad unit sizes and categories. They’ve also announced that they’ll be adding more options in the weeks ahead. Reporting is good (although having the delay/auditing does make it difficult to test and tweak ads)

The Bad Stuff about WidgetBucks

Despite WidgetBucks staff commenting that their ads load fast - I still see them loading slowly on my blogs. They are generally the last thing to load on my pages (which is good in that they let other things load first) but it can take 1-3 seconds for them to load (some report it as being longer). This isn’t really good enough. Contextual Targeting doesn’t seem to have worked for me very well. I tested an ad unit in the contextual mode on my blog and it gave reasonable results in that the ads were on cameras and the site was about cameras - but I’ve rarely seen more specific targeting. What I mean by this is that if I have a page about a particular model of camera I’ve never seen a WidgetBucks ad actually served that mentions that camera. I think if they were more targeted contextually the CTR would be significantly higher - the ads would probably convert better for advertisers too. Ads dominate pages too much for my liking. While they do give the option to use different color schemes, even the most subtle colors make it difficult to blend ads into a page. While this probably helps with CTR it isn’t great for usability - particularly with all the animation going on. While you can easily have 2-3 ad units of AdSense or Chitika on a page to run too many WidgetBucks ads on a page would probably be quite overwhelming for readers. In my first impression review I said that the affiliate program sucked - they improved it which is great - however they don’t give any indication of what those earnings are until the first week of the following month. It’d be great to have some more immediate indications of not only the total number of referrals but how it’s performing. This would also give me a clearer indication whether others are earning good money from WidgetBucks. So on an earnings from I like WidgetBucks - but on a design and reader usability front I still have some issues which hold me back from using them more.
Again - it’s worth emphasizing that different ad options will work differently on different blogs. WidgetBucks ads work well for me on product related blogs (as do Chitika) - while AdSense seems to work better for me on non product related blogs. The key is to test test test and see what works best for you.
I should also say that it’s another couple of weeks until payments come through from WidgetBucks. I don’t have any doubt that they’ll pay as promised - but while the initial earnings from it look pretty decent I can’t really review it fully until I see some cash hit my paypal account!

Widgetbucks Scam Or Is It Real?

Why People Think That WidgetBucks is a Scam?
Well in my opinion when people see that they are paying much on a single click they get interested but it also make them to think that how they can pay more then $0.30 per click. Thats why they start saying that WidgetBucks is a scam, they will not pay you.
Well May be they were thinking the right thing.

Why I Think That WidgetBucks is a Scam?

Hmmmmmm! as far my concern i do also think the same thing often. My Two Friends who also publish WidgetBucks ads, get suspended. They get suspended at WidgetBucks because of no reason.
WidgetBucks Said that clicks on Our ads dont convert to sales. WidgetBucks Said that you placed our ads on non-content pages in your site. (even ads were working on only two pages that were full of content). They suspended and take all the earnings i think near about $500.
So that all about why i think WidgetBucks is a scam! but still i am using it with a hope that it will not suspend my account for such a crap reasons.
Well those who want to use WidgetBucks can click to give it a try.

Finally we can make money with Widgetbucks

Finally we can make money with Widgetbucks, Seems they put their ears on to listen us

Widgetbucks via their newsletter announce that starting on the coming December, they will offer a CPM Ads for International Traffics. That is a good news of course since the last time they announced that they pay traffics came from North America only.
Now this is probably your chance to make money with Widgetbucks. Here is a copy quote from their official blogger blog
At the time a user visits a page containing the widget, we will sense the geographic location of the visitor. If they are in the U.S. and/or Canada, the user will see the normal WidgetBucks widget. If the user is outside those two countries, then our system will determine a country- specific CPM ad to display. We are currently working with advertisers covering 100 countries and offering thousands of creatives to ensure that site visitors will be monetized for your benefit. All ads are restricted against adult or other suggestive themes.
So now they finally have a sense of visitors geographic location
A good comment was submitted by one of their reader there,
Great to see CPM ads being implemented. It would also be great to be able to choose to show CPM ads all the time if we wish to rather than mostly CPC.

It’s true, from my personal experienced when I tried widgetbucks widget ads on this site, their CTR was so low. That’s why I removed widgetbucks from this site. If only we could set it to show all the CPM ads only, it would be definitely a good solution.
Now the problem is that the Country-spesific CPM Ad, as they said they currently are working with advertisers covering 100 countries, that means if your visitors came from outside of that 100 countries, still you’ll not gonna make money!
But it’s a good progress anyway. Let’s give them a chance and support, if they really a good money maker, then I might put their widget back on this site
Not Widgetbucks Publisers yet? you can join them here, and be my affiliate.

WidgetBucks revenue stands at 217000$ per day

After widgetbucks announced that they have recieved 25 million impressions in 7 days “emdys” calculated on the basis of 10% CTR counted up to 25,00,000 clicks in 7 days out of which widgetbucks were making around 12,50,000$/week , wow didnt knew this guy had made many guess and expectations without any backend information of the company regarding their income, expenses etc. There are many other publishers unhappy after getting banned from widgetbucks because of running the adverts on Non-English websites or websites which were running ads against their TOS.
Though its 10th of this month and still widgetbucks has not yet updated the referral stats on the mybucks section and its confusing because their mybucks update schedule clearly says that the Referral commissions are posted during the first week of the subsequent month.

How to GeoTarget Adverts on your website

There have been several times you were told by pay per click companies that Non-US Based traffic wont be paid or will be paid much lower than US based traffic and this is the time you will need a GEOTarget adverts feature or a script on your website which can show ads based on the visitors country and this is called GeoTarget Adverts.
Recently WidgetBucks announced that Non US Publishers not to be paid WidgetBucks and previously chitika and Yahoo publisher network also disapproved Non-US based traffic, which makes me sure you are looking for this kind of script.

Installation:

There are two versions of the script, depending on whether you are more willing to accept false positives or false negatives. This is necessary due to the way different browsers report their language.
1. You will need to create two text files in the home directory of your server, usads.txt and otherads.txt . Paste in ad code you want to show to US visitors(ex. YPN) in usads.txt and paste in ad code you want to show international visitors(ex. AdSense) in otherads.txt .
2. Paste one of the following script versions to the place in your template where you want to insert ads. For US visitors the Safari and Opera browsers report their language only as “en”, while Firefox and Internet Explorer report it as “en-us”. The More Restrictive version of the script will only show US ads to browsers reporting “en-us”- thus, Safari and Opera visitors will only be shown International ads, regardless of location. However, you can be sure that no ads intended for US visitors are shown to international visitors. The Less Restrictive version shows US ads to any browser reporting “en”, so American users of all browsers will be shown ads intended for Americans- but so will anyone else in an English-speaking country, primarily Great Britain and Canada. Wordpress won’t let me put php code into posts, so you will need to put < ?php (without the space) at the beginning of the script and ?> (without the space) at the end.

More Restrictive:

$language = $_SERVER['HTTP_ACCEPT_LANGUAGE'];if (substr($language,0,5)==”en-us”){include “usads.txt”;}else {include “otherads.txt”;}
Less Restrictive:
$language = $_SERVER['HTTP_ACCEPT_LANGUAGE'];if (substr($language,0,2)==”en”){include “usads.txt”;}else {include “otherads.txt”;}
If you are using the WP-Cache plugin, you will need to mark the code as executable by enclosing it in –mfunc tags: put < !–mfunc–>(without the space) at the beginning and < !–/mfunc–>(without the space) at the end.
Because the ad code is included in a separate text file, and seamlessly written into the page upon execution, you are not modifying the actual ad code, and are thus fully compliant with their TOS.
Thanks to Neomeme for providing this excellent script.

Widget Bucks Stats 28 cents per click minimum

The last time i announced widget bucks i added the same code by creating a channel on my blog and now after 2-3 days i see that iam getting a fixed rate / click using Merch sence system in their backend which automatically checks the content of your website and shows related adverts. Here is the stats for todays clicks, ctr etc and the day has not yet completed.
